A starter for ten?
This is it then, I'm diving into writing my first ever blog post. I am responding to two prompts on the previous two days, one during an Early Career Researcher Network Workshop, and one this morning from colleagues in the University of Plymouth Policy Briefing Workshop. Twice in two days? This must make it a priority in my schedule. The story so far is that I completed my doctoral study in January 2024, and I am keen to embark on post-doc voyages.
I am discovering that vision impairment and rurality are a research combination that is unique, but I am reassured that other post-doctoral researchers have responded positively to my topic. I have several potential projects that are very exciting: designing and facilitating a workshop with counsellors about concepts of disability, becoming part of a team making a bid for a Nuffield Research Grant, writing a paper to submit to the British Journal of Visual Impairment, awaiting news about a potential textbook writing plan, attending workshops on Policy Engagement, and joining the British Academy Early Careers Researcher Network.
I am determined that by the end of March 2024 I will have made a submission to at least one journal, noting of course, that one submission may generate one rejection. Onwards!!
